Class Descriptions & Dress Code



Acro



AcroDance is a beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. Students will be taught though the Acrobatic Arts curriculum by an Acrobatic Arts certified teacher. Through this program students will acquire flexibility, strength, balance, limbering, tumbling, basic contortion, and partner/group stunting.


Dress code:

  • Any color leotard or biketard.
  • Footless and stirrup tights only
  • Fitted shorts or capris
  • Bare feet
  • Long hair in low ponytail or low bun.

Boys: Comfortable athletic style clothing (not overly baggy)

Ballet



Ballet is the foundation of a strong dance technique and is recommended to all of our students. It is a classical dance form that helps develop correct technique, posture, body alignment, control and flexibility. Ballet's structure helps build self-discipline and confidence. A typical class consists of barre work, center floor work, and combinations across the floor. Pointe requires instructor approval.


Dress code:

  • Pink ballet tights
  • Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes (split sole recommended for ages 6+)
  • Ballet skirts and fitted knit ballet wear is allowed
  • No pants or baggy clothing
  • Long hair pulled up and away from face (ballet bun preferred)

Boys: Fitted black pants, white t-shirt and black ballet shoes

Breakdance Workshop & Camps



Ages 6+



Breakdancing is a popular subgenre of hip hop dance culture, popularized by its flashy tricks and funky beats. Students will learn movements such as top rock, foot work, power moves and freezes. All taught by award winning b-boy Mr. Danny “Lissome” Guzman.


Dress code:

  • Comfortable athletic style clothing - shirt, pants, or shorts
  • No jeans allowed
  • Any clean pair of sneakers, kept for classroom use only
  • No street shoes or socks only allowed
  • Long hair pulled up and away from face

Lyrical/Contemporary



Lyrical dance is a flowy and free-spirited style meant to showcase emotions through movement. The genre is a fusion of ballet, jazz and modern techniques. It is a creative outlet for students to express their artistry though dance. Ballet is a requirement for this class.


Dress code:

  • Footless and stirrup tights only
  • Fitted dance pants, fitted capris or fitted shorts are optional Bare feet or dance paws/FootUndeez

Hip Hop



Hip hop is for anyone who loves to move. Do you want to dance like your favorite popstar or learn the moves from popular TikTok or YouTube videos? Then this is the class for you! Always fun, upbeat, and energy filled, this class is geared to keep you moving. Using the freshest music and styles makes this class so popular.


Dress code:

  • Comfortable athletic style clothing - shirt, pants, or shorts
  • No jeans allowed
  • Any clean pair of sneakers, kept for classroom use only
  • No street shoes or socks only allowed

Jazz



Jazz is a form of dance that contains elements of ballet, African dance, and modern. A jazz class will have an array of styles with fun upbeat music ranging from today’s top hits to 1940’s show tunes. Students will learn various leaps, turns, isolations, suspensions, progressions across the floor and dance combinations.


Dress code:

  • Any color and style leotard
  • Any color tights
  • Fitted dance pants, fitted capris or fitted shorts are optional
  • Black slip on jazz boot (no ties) Levels 1 – 3.
  • Tan slip on jazz boot (no ties) for Levels 4+

Boys: Fitted black pants, white t-shirt and black jazz shoes

Musical Theater



Musical theater combines acting, singing and dancing into one class. The fundamentals are based on jazz technique and the different stylizations used on Broadway. Students will learn and explored through some of their favorite musical performances.


Dress code:

  • Any color and style leotard
  • Any color tights
  • Fitted dance pants, fitted capris or fitted shorts are optional
  • Tan slip on jazz boot (no ties)

Boys: Fitted black pants, white t-shirt and black jazz shoes

Creative Movement



Ages 1.5 - 2 30 Minutes



Creative movement class is for our youngest dancers. A parent/adult will participate with the child during class. Our program teaches students through free movement, exploration of basic dance steps and positions, and using imagination and play. Use of age appropriate activities, games, music and props are utilized to create a fun and exciting class for young dancers. During all the fun and excitement children begin to develop locomotor skills, social skills, spatial awareness, coordination, classroom structure and so much more! This is a non-recital class.


Dress code:

  • Any color leotard, biketard, or fitted shirt and shorts
  • Any color tights
  • Pink ballet shoes (If ordering through our online store, choose the color Classic Pink)
  • No un-attached ballet skirts or ballet slippers

Ages 2 - 2.5 30 Minutes



Creative movement 2 is for young dancers that are ready to take class on their own. A parent/adult will not participate with the child during class. Our program teaches students through free movement, exploration of basic dance steps and positions, and using imagination and play. Use of age appropriate activities, games, music and props are utilized to create a fun and exciting class for young dancers. During all the fun and excitement children continue to develop locomotor skills, social skills, spatial awareness, coordination, classroom structure and so much more!

  • Any color tights

Pre-Dance Combo



Ages 3 - 4 45 Minutes



Pre-dance classes combine two dance disciplines into one class. This gives children the opportunity to discover multiple styles of dance whilst keeping them highly engaged. Class style choices include a combination of two of the following: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and acro. Pre-dance classes will continue working on concepts laid out in our creative movement program. In addition, students will start to learn basic dance terminology, strengthening, flexibility, and musical awareness. Our pre-dance program is designed to be the perfect introduction to dance and a great foundation for a child’s dance education.


Dress code:

  • Any color leotard or biketard
  • Any color tights
  • No un-attached ballet skirts or ballet slippers
  • Long hair pulled up and away from face

Boys: Comfortable clothing, black ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes or bare feet depending on the styles of dance they are enrolled in.


Dance shoes required are based on the styles of dance they are enrolled in:

  • Acro: Bare feet, footless and stirrup tights only
  • Ballet: pink ballet shoes (If ordering through our online store, choose the color Classic Pink)
  • Hip Hop: Any clean pair of sneakers, kept for classroom use only. No street shoes
  • Jazz: pink ballet shoes, jazz shoes are not required
  • Tap: black buckle tap shoes, no lace up tap shoes. Can wear socks if needed.

Pre-Dance 2 Combo



Ages 5 - 6 60 Minutes



Pre-dance 2 classes combine two dance disciplines into one longer class. This gives children the opportunity to discover multiple styles of dance whilst keeping them highly engaged. Class style choices include a combination of two of the following: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and acro. Pre-dance 2 classes are designed to be a continuation from pre-dance. Students will continue to learn basic dance terminology, strengthening, flexibility, and musical awareness. However, it is more structured than a pre-dance class and is designed to ensure readiness for our leveled classes.


Dress code:

  • Any color leotard or biketard
  • Any color tights
  • No un-attached ballet skirts or ballet slippers
  • Long hair pulled up and away from face

Boys: Comfortable clothing, black ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes or bare feet depending on the styles of dance they are enrolled in.


Dance shoes required are based on the styles of dance they are enrolled in:

  • Acro: Bare feet, footless and stirrup tights only
  • Ballet: pink ballet shoes (If ordering through our online store, choose the color Classic Pink)
  • Hip Hop: Any clean pair of sneakers, kept for classroom use only. No street shoes

Tap



Tap dancing is a unique style that allows the dancer to create rhythm and sound by striking the floor with special shoes affixed with metal taps. In class, students work on their timing, clarity, balance, coordination and intricate rhythms. This style is great for any dancer that is or wants to become more musically inclined.


Dress code:

  • Any color and style leotard
  • Any color tights
  • Fitted dance pants, fitted capris or fitted shorts are optional
  • Black tap shoes. Buckle shoes for all dancers under 8 and lace up shoes for ages 8+.


Boys: Comfortable athletic style clothing (not overly baggy) and black tap shoes.
